just got home from illinois...

... and i slept for the rest of the day and well into the next. factually, i got in on monday morning, but just now got around to writing about it. you see where the priorities are. anyways, all the drug dealers and 12-hour flight delays aside, it was a good trip. honestly, if nothing else, the drug dealers and flight delays made it all the more interesting.

of course, that isn't to say that i didn't enjoy the weekend. far from it, indeed. it seems like i'm always happy to spend time away from the DFW. this was my first time in a real "big city", and i must say that i was (still am) impressed. entering Chicago proper left me slacked-jawed and gawking as this great beast of concrete and steel loomed over me, exhaled his chill, biting breath, and as i stood before the beast, i wondered what i had thought a big city was before this moment. in retrospect, it no longer seems proper in my mind for Dallas to sit next to Chicago at the big-city table. sorry, Dallas, you just don't belong there.

during my brief afternoon stay, i managed to snap a few pictures from the top of the Sears Tower, eat (half of) a Chicago-style deep-dish pizza, use a *real* mass transit system, see (the outside of) Wrigley Field, watch a cult-classic band perform, and find out that you are, in fact, *not* allowed to take pictures of the Chicago Board of Trade building. it was a whirlwind tour to say the least. mayhaps, pending some collating and culling, i'll post some more pics, but until then, all i have is what i've linked in this post.

i was really expecting more wind from Chicago, but the weather that afternoon and evening was just fine, though it did start to drizzle later that night. when i asked the lady at the front desk of my hotel the best way to get around downtown, she said that since it was so nice out that day, i should walk. it was about 45F and overcast. when i saw the snow the next morning, i understood.

so, that was thursday. the rest of the weekend i spent with family in Atlanta, but that would be too much to put down here. so, i suppose, until next time...

what the....

ok, i have successfully set up this.....this thing here, so, uh, welcome! ;-)

i'm not precisely certain why i set this up at all, but curiosity has a strange way of making things happen. moroever, for me at least, it is equally capable of changing the subject of interest, and since i am the highly distractable type, i do not expect to make a habit out of this.

at any rate, i would think myself quite the bad host to set this up and not offer a little something for entertainment's sake. so, for those who haven't yet seen this, i present to you a little peak into the professional musical career of one Leonard Nimoy. enjoy.
